Great Pediatric Spaces Start With the Right Furniture & Colors
One of the things I enjoy most about working with pediatric medical and dental offices is helping customers see how much of a difference the right furniture and color combination can make.

A pediatric waiting room does not have to be filled with bright primary colors to feel fun for children. Sometimes a softer palette—muted aqua, ocean blue, seafoam, sage and warm neutrals—can create a space that feels welcoming to children while still looking polished and professional for adults.
The ocean-inspired room shown here is a great example of the kind of look that can be created simply by choosing furniture and finishes that work well together.
Start With Great Furniture
For the adults, the Mozie Chair offers a comfortable, sophisticated look that works beautifully in pediatric medical and dental offices.
Then comes the fun part—the children's furniture!
The Zoon Children's Chair & Table Collection gives you so many opportunities to personalize a children's area. Zoon chairs are available with more than 40 standard cutout and engraving options, along with custom graphic possibilities.
For an ocean-themed office, imagine choosing sea turtles, fish, starfish or other under-the-sea designs. For another office, you might choose dinosaurs, animals or a completely different theme.
Even the chair and table glides can provide a little contrasting pop of color.
It is those small details that can make children's furniture feel like it truly belongs in the room.
Choosing Upholstery Is One of My Favorite Parts

There are some really beautiful commercial upholstery choices available today.
Some have the texture and visual interest of woven fabric but are made with high-performance coated or vinyl-blend materials that are much more practical for a busy healthcare environment.
At first glance, you may think you are looking at fabric!
That gives us the opportunity to add texture, pattern and softness to adult seating without automatically sacrificing the cleanability that is so important in a pediatric medical or dental office.
Instead of covering every chair in exactly the same material, we can coordinate a soft solid with a subtle woven-looking pattern and then pull those same colors into the children's furniture.
Suddenly everything starts working together.
Of course, every upholstery has its own specifications and approved cleaning products, so it is important to select materials appropriate for your particular environment and follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
Color Can Completely Change the Room
You do not necessarily need new flooring, elaborate murals or an expensive renovation to give a waiting room a fresh look.
Sometimes great furniture and the right colors do most of the work.
Start with two or three main colors. Add a coordinating neutral. Repeat those colors throughout the adult chairs, children's furniture and accessories.
For an ocean-inspired space, I love the idea of:
Muted aqua and ocean blue
Soft seafoam or sage
Warm sand and oatmeal neutrals
Natural wood tones
A few playful ocean details for the children
The result can be colorful without being overwhelming and playful without losing the professional feel of the office.
Not Sure Which Colors to Choose?
That is where we can help.
Choosing from dozens of upholstery colors, patterns, frame finishes and children's furniture colors can get overwhelming very quickly.
Send us a photo of your waiting room and tell us a little about the look you are trying to achieve. We can help you narrow down furniture options, coordinate colors and look at upholstery choices that work well together.
We can also provide upholstery and vinyl samples, because colors and textures are always easier to choose when you can see and feel them in person.
You do not have to completely redesign your office to make a big difference.
Sometimes it starts with simply choosing great furniture in really great colors.
